   Inglourious Basterds was like an energy-sapping, will to live-draining 150 minute episode of 'Allo 'Allo. I spent most of the running time expecting someone to say "leesen very carefulleee, I shall say zees only wernce..." or the "good moaning!" copper to show up. If it's one of your favourite films, you need to watch more films. I suggest you start with The Dirty Dozen.

    This German music magazine wrote about a band Jónsi does allegedly fancy:

    'Erste bekannte Fans haben Zebra And Snake schon gefunden. So äußert sich beispielsweise Jónsi (Sigur Rós) begeistert über ihre Musik. Unter anderem wegen seines Lobs hat das Duo auch überhaupt erst einen Plattenvertrag bekommen. Hier nun also mit der Empfehlung von Jónsi das Video zum Titelsong der EP, 'Sweetest Treasure'.'
    In English:
    'Zebra And Snake have already found their first famous fans. Jónsi (Sigur Rós) for example expressed his enthusiasm about the band's music. Because of his praise, amongst other things, the duo got it's record deal in the first place. So here you can watch the video for their EP's title song 'Sweetest Treasure' on Jónsi's recommendation.'

    He obviosly met them at last year's By:larm festival.

    Is this new to me only? The song reminds me of some older song,
    I just can't remember which one.

    i'm seriously digging that music video.

    kind of related, but i know Alex likes the band VIO/MIRÉ, who are really good but very different. i've known them for a while and was pleasantly surprised to hear that he liked them.

    looks like jonsi likes the dancey dancey stuff and alex likes the indie cutsie stuff. that's adorable.

    Thank you for reminding me of Vio/Miré, Medizin. I prefer the 'indie cutsie staff' to the dancey, dancey thing as well. I found a page where one can listen to a live set. However, in terms of cutsie indie stuff, nothing comes anywhere close to Parachutes. On the other hand I'm so curious about Úlfur's new record, I could listen to 'Black Shore' day in, day out.

    'Bedroom folk I guess is as good a description as any: Glasson’s recording process is just that, “it’s weird to even call them albums because I just record them at home in my bedroom”. For January 2009, his latest, he recorded it at friend Alex Sommer’s home in Reykjavik after the pair toured with Icelandic band Parachutes. “Alex [of Parachutes] offered to let me record it at his home studio. He also has lots of super instruments, [pump organ, piano], and the guys from Parachutes play nice instruments so it was really good to work with them on a different project”.'

    I know you've seen the Iceland Airwaves '08 little thingie on Youtube. Yup there's Alario being adorable and talking in that little voice that makes puppies and flowers happen just everywhere in the room, but listen to that music.

    I don't know where that record is, why it never saw the light of day, but I got to see those tunes live. I got to see that whole fuckin band play and it wasn't cute. It was awesome and mesmerizing. They played for a total of 25 minutes or something and cemented themselves forever as the best fuckin thing I ever heard or saw and I've seen hundreds of bands. If there'd been a blanket to curl up with in the room it would have spontaneously combusted.

    Scott says it best "we really want to have fun and make fun music, but make beautiful music". They succeeded.
    The band is cute. The music, though, is beautiful. That video you posted, look at them play all those little instruments, trading off with the skill of juggernaut Sigur Ros. Fuck me man.
    All I see is talent and a presentation of sounds that I doubt I'll ever see or hear again.

    This concludes my heart on sleeve love for Parachutes.
